The book happens to be a collection of research papers edited by Professor K.K. Mittal, an eminent scholar of Indian (including Buddhist) Philosophy. In fact, the papers are those which were presented, read out, and discussed in an ALL INDIA SEMINAR held under the auspices of the DEPARTMENT OF BUDDHIST STUDIES a few years ago.
Those who contributed include front-ranking scholars like Professor V.P. Varma, Professor K.N. Chartterjee, Professor S.L. Pandey, Professor C.S. Upasak, Late Professor Pratap Chandra and so on.
Even the titles of some of the papers speak volumes on the subject. Some papers are based upon- THE PROBLEM of KARMA and REBIRTH as DISCUSSED in the MILINDAPANHA, THE NATURE and SCOPE of ‘KARMA’ in the DASABHUMIKA-SUTRA, etc. The book includes a paper “Various perspectives on Karma and Rebirth” by the editor Professor Kewal Krishan Mittal him self.
The selection of papers and their editing by Professor K.K. Mittal deserve appreciation by all those who love serious philosophical treatises like the present one.
